Here are Eight Reasons the GED® is YOUR Solution to completing your high school education:
1.The GED® is more affordable than any of the other options and the total cost is not all payable at once.
2. The GED® credential can usually be achieved in your own time as the online course is self-paced, so if you are working or pursing other ventures, you can set your own rate of progress. You are never behind!
3. The only requirement is that candidates must be age 17, so if they want to, they can get their grade 12 equivalent* at an earlier age than most other teens. Adults can also write it and achieve a high school equivalency credential.
4. The GED® is internationally recognised and recognised in SA by SAQA as a foreign grade 12 equivalent*…so it opens the doors of opportunity.
5. The online study material shows you when a candidate is ready to write the test – this takes a lot of stress out of the test preparation and gives candidates confidence.
6. You choose your own test dates – no cramming before exam dates, you write when you are ready.
7. Only 4 subjects – this means that you (or your children) have more time for other things they wish to pursue. There is no Afrikaans, but Afrikaans learners seem to manage the tests in English very well. The four subjects are:
8. Greater freedom as the GED® does not force you to follow the dictates of a prescribed curriculum for grades 10-12. You can continue to give your children a customised, high quality education of your own choice, until such time as they are ready to prepare for the GED®. Then they can do the online study programme to help them prepare for the tests.

*SAQA (the South African Qualifications Authority) has evaluated the GED® and found the National Senior Certificate as its closest comparable qualification. As with any kind of matric or high school credential, there is no guarantee that a GED® graduate will be granted exemption from USAf, nor that a university will accept his/her application, as there may be other selection criteria too.
